Mobile Chicken Hut Construction

In June 2025, we began building our new mobile chicken hut — the third we’ve built from scratch. The first two served us well but were much smaller and have now been retired. With the generous help of a couple of friends, this one came together in just a few days and has been completely custom-built to suit our needs. It houses 120 laying hens and includes rollaway nest boxes, automatic timer doors and everything needed to keep the flock comfortable and secure. Designed to move easily within our continually rotated electric netting system, the hut allows the hens constant access to fresh pasture, giving them new ground to roam, scratch and forage while naturally improving soil health and fertility along the way.
